Our Customers for Steam Turbine CHP Stations

Steam Turbine CHP Stations:

Steam Turbine CHP Stations are specially suitable for Enterprises, who need continuously and simultaneously useful heat and electricity.

Important prerequisites for the application of Steam Turbine CHP Stations are typically:

  • A fossil fuel (e.g. natural gas, oil, coal, biomass) is available in required quality and in sufficient quantity or a fuel gas pipeline can be built with economically reasonable lenght
  • The necessary prerequisites at the Operator for the operation of a steam turbine are fulfilled or can be gained by working within the execution of the project
  • The annual operation time of the steam turbine is normally at least 5000 hours/year
  • Either the public electrical grid is reliable and stable or the new CHP Station can be operated continuously in island mode and thereby can cover with its operating range the energy demand of the Customer
  • Simultaneous need of electricity and useful heat
  • The Customer need useful heat in form of steam (process steam or district heating steam) or hot water
  • Without consideration of subsidies or other governmental support, the following basic rules are valid for the economic use of ST CHP Stations:
The price ratio electricity to fuel is below 1.8, but this may deviate significantly depending on the project boundary conditions
  • The operational electricity-to-heat ratio (electricity demand in MW divided by useful heat demand in MW) is in the range between 0.1 and appr. 0.3

It has to be emphasised, that some further important project boundary conditions do have significant influence on the choice of the optimal power plant process. All project boundary conditions and their influence shall be investigated in a study, prior to the choice of the process for the project execution.

Based on above prerequisites, the use of Steam Turbine CHP Stations is recommended for the following Customer branches:

  • paper- and cardboard- production
  • textile- fabrication
  • automobile-fabrication
  • steelwork- fabrication
  • cement- fabrication
  • chemistry- fabrication
  • aluminium- fabrication
  • mines
  • oil refinery
  • sugar-fabrication
  • food-fabrication
  • district- heating
